As Time Goes By

This is the first composite I have put together for  quite a while.

The model was from a shoot organised (and styled) by Karen Boyle hosted at the  Saracen House Studios  (Andrew Griffiths) a few years ago and the resulting picture has been hanging around for quite a while.

I also put together the background about 6 months ago but didn’t do anything with it… until tonight.

I had a sudden spurt of inspiration and the whole picture came together quite quickly.

I wish I was one of those artists/photographers who creates images full of emotion and hidden (or not so) meanings but… as much as I try, it’s just not me.

All I do is create “pretty pictures” as they say “to thine own self be true”  🙂

Breaking The Rules

I love creating pictures that “break the rules”

I was told that (in competition) judges don’t like green and they don’t like the subject matter placed slap bang in the middle of the picture.

This one breaks both of those rules and it has been very successful in competition.

Are you are a rule breaker?? I would love to see your examples of a successful image that doesn’t conform to the conventional set…….

Bygone Beauty

A quiet few minutes doing some more colourising of old photos before a very busy weekend.

I don’t know about you but I think this lady is so beautiful and there is so much emotion in her face.

The model is “looking out of the frame” a no no for some people today but, as far as I am concerned,  I think the photographer who captured this lady’s beauty, got the feeling and emotion spot on -even if she wasn’t looking at the camera !

Lady From The Past

Today I have concentrated on colourising a portrait – skin tones are always very difficult and also trying to bring a sparkle back into the eyes.

First colorised portrait I have attempted… and still learning as I go along.

If You Go Down To The Woods…….

It’s quite a while since I visited the surreal world I inhabited a few years ago… so I thought it was time to packed my Photoshop bag of tricks and revisit it.

Don’t know if there is going to be a dark theme but do know its going to be on the surreal side.

Making An Impression

Continuing with my foray into the  impressionist world here is my latest offering…  A little girl with a wheelbarrow.

Little Girl and barrow 1

I enjoy painting digitally – all the fun of “real painting” without the  ‘orribe smell of oil paint and turps. Its a joy not to have to clean the digital brushes too !

This is my first blog (very scary) and I thought that I would take the opportunity of saying hello fellow bloggers and introduce myself

I am a Photographer and Digital Artist based in the North West of the U.K.  and  have been very fortunate to have gained  numerous awards including Gold Medals at International level for my photographic work and I am an Associate Of The Royal Photographic Society.

Okay,  so that’s all of the sensible stuff over ……. My passions are  (apart from my family) travel and photography which thankfully feed off each other.  I am known ( if I am known) for my creative images and  I  very much enjoy blurring the boundaries of conventional painting and photography and to that end many of my images have a definite painterly feel.   I have to admit that, like lots of other creative image producers, my hard drive (and numerous other external hard drives) are full of random pictures which will be used in a montage somewhere in the near future – I live in hope !  I am, through this website, planning to show you how I go about putting these images together  so that you might be encouraged to have a go yourself  (the more creatives the merrier I say).

I really enjoy helping others to push their own personal boundaries and provide tutorials and workshops in Creative Photoshop and Fine Art Nude Photography to small groups or on a one to one basis – you will be able to find out more about these tutorials and workshops on this site as time goes by

This website will enable me to share my photographic and travelling experiences with you…. assuming you are interested !  We can share the journey together and I would love to hear from you if you have comments to make about my photographic musings.  You will also be able to see when my workshops and tutorials are scheduled and also  purchase prints, photoshop brushes and textures – but all in good time  I am just starting out – and belive me I have much to learn in this wonderful world of blogging – please be patient with me 🙂

I hope you enjoy the journey …. So take a  deep breath….. Off we go !
