Back To The Past

Well, it’s a long time since I put together a composite picture and an even longer time since this lady had an airing.

Very dark image for me and absolutely no green anywhere ūüôā

Not doing very much in the way of producing images for competitions these day …but need to keep my compositing “skills” going…. thus this new image

… and the leaves that were green turn to brown……

..and the leaves that were green turn to brown… a line from a Paul Simon song.

So it’s autumn and the leaves are changing colour now ¬†and I thought I would do a digital painting to celebrate the fact.

A bit more of a a subtle digital painting this time.

The leaves WERE actually green and I HAVE turned then to brown – does that make me Mother Nature or a picture manipulator?

Thanks Mr. Simon for the inspiration.

Digital Painting Of Back Streets Of Venice

Today’s digital painting, this time the backstreets of Venice.

Yes it started as a photograph and if it had stayed that way, I would suggest, it would have been as exactly the same as everyone else’s picture who stood in the same spot as I did.

Some people get hot under the collar when someone “messes” with a photograph (it’s not proper photography) – but I applaud those who do – go for it, do more, push those boundaries !

We are making art for the 21st Century

Tantalising Textures

The first of the Tantalising Textures Workshop takes place this Sunday and I have been busy putting the finishing touches to everything.

Thought to myself this afternoon…….. ¬†think I might do something new….. texture picture wise..

…… so I did !

Below is the start picture so you can see what the original looks like.

Looking forward to Sunday and being able to welcome all of the people who have booked on the workshop

There is another Tantalising Workshop in May (which is also fully booked) but if you want to be kept informed of future workshops please filling the contact form below ūüôā

People often ask me about where I get my ideas from for my creative pictures  РI talk about this in the lectures I do at photo and art clubs.

I like to produce pictures that have a different look and feel however the same background can still be used in 2 completely different pictures.  Here is an example.

The Shepherd    Waiting-1-long

Here are the start images – the cottage has been flipped horizontally and the sky is a mixture of skies

Sky cotage Sky-2

I also use lots of textures which I make myself.

In 2015 I am planning to produce a CD with step by step instructions on how I construct my images and will be running workshops on how I construct my painterly pictures.

If you would like more information please let me know by sending me a message via the contact form below

Busy Busy Busy

Portia Double

Had a great shoot with the very beautiful and talented Portia on Wednesday and had a chance to chat about the upcoming Manor House Costume Shoot – which we both are really looking forward to.

Photographed frogs and butterflies yesterday

Frogs 3

and continued sewing the Manor House shoot costumes today  (been working on them for weeks if not months !)

This weekend on a Fused Glass Workshop and then my friend Marie Otero arrives from America on Monday for a flying fun packed visit .

Photographing a new model on Tuesday with Marie and Robert and then another shoot with Portia and Jess on Wednesday when we can get them to try on the costumes for the first time – Super excited Woo Hoo !!

A big THANKS to everyone who was contacted me personally with all their positive vibes – thanks folks its much appreciated ūüôā

Official “launch”

Portia example 1

The Costume Manor House Photographic Workshop (which I hinted about on my last blog) has now been scheduled for the 22nd March 2015.

The  most surprising thing is that there is ONLY 1 PLACE LEFT because a number of people contacted me (after they had  read my blog) to register an interest in finding out more… and when they found out more…… they went ahead and booked their place!

Due to the fact a couple of people couldn‚Äôt make the 22nd March, but still very much wanted to attend the workshop, Marie and I decided to arrange another costume shoot for Saturday 14th March…. so we booked the Manor House again ¬†‚Ķ.and 2 people have already secured their place.

Marie Otero is coming over from the USA and for those who don’t know her she is an instructor for the PSA (Photographic Society of America) who teaches Photography and Digital Art & Digital Painting at workshops in the USA and Europe with great success. She has won a number of International Photography Awards including a Royal Photographic Society Gold medal for her image Shipwrecked Stranger and Gold Medals for her Black and White Architecture work and Creative compositions.

For my part‚Ķ I have organized a number of very successful photographic seminars including quite a few Fine Art Nude Photographic workshops and a good majority of those attendees who submitted the resulting images from the shoot to the various salons and exhibitions, gained awards at national and international level ‚Äď some were fortunate enough to be awarded gold medals!¬†–¬†¬†which, as the organizer of the event, is very satisfying.

So along with the Costume Manor House Workshop Marie and I will be hosting a Photoshop for Photographers Workshop on the 15th March and the 21st March for a day of exploration with Photoshop, learning about textures, layers, layer masks, compositing and lighting your images post production. There are a couple of people already booked on these workshop and I am sure that it will be of interest to others too. Please be aware that there are only a very very limited number of places for this workshop.

I have to say that both Marie and I have been overwhelmed by the response to these workshops even before they have been ‚Äúlaunched‚ÄĚ to the wider world.

So, if I had a red ribbon, I would be cutting it now and declaring the Costume Manor House Photographic and Photographers Photoshop workshops… OPEN and a warm welcome to all of you who have already booked.

Tantalising Textures

After being asked many times about the various textures I use in my creative images,  I have put together a pack of 8 textures which may be of interest to some people

Here is the link for you to check out the textures (Pack #1) etc and how to contact me for more details

I used one or two of the textures in Pack #1 in the picture which is featured below

Venice 1

This is my first blog (very scary) and I thought that I would take the opportunity of saying hello fellow bloggers and introduce myself

I am a Photographer and Digital Artist based in the North West of the U.K.  and  have been very fortunate to have gained  numerous awards including Gold Medals at International level for my photographic work and I am an Associate Of The Royal Photographic Society.

Okay, ¬†so that’s all of the sensible stuff over ……. My passions are ¬†(apart from my family) travel and photography which thankfully feed off each other. ¬†I am known ( if I am known) for my creative images and ¬†I¬†¬†very much enjoy blurring the boundaries of conventional painting and photography and to that end many of my images have a definite painterly feel.¬†¬† I have to admit that, like lots of other creative image producers, my hard drive (and numerous other external hard drives) are full of random pictures which will be used in a montage somewhere in the near future – I live in hope ! ¬†I am, through this website, planning to show you how I go about putting these images together ¬†so that you might be encouraged to have a go yourself ¬†(the more creatives the merrier I say).

I really enjoy helping others to push their own personal boundaries and provide tutorials and workshops in Creative Photoshop and Fine Art Nude Photography to small groups or on a one to one basis Рyou will be able to find out more about these tutorials and workshops on this site as time goes by

This website will enable me to share my photographic and travelling experiences with you….¬†assuming you¬†are interested ! ¬†We can share the journey together and I would love to hear from you if you have comments to make about my photographic musings. ¬†You will also be able to see when my workshops and tutorials are scheduled and¬†also¬† purchase prints, photoshop brushes and textures – but all in good time¬†¬†I am just starting out – and belive me I have much to learn in this wonderful world of blogging –¬†please be patient with¬†me ūüôā

I hope you enjoy the journey …. So take a¬†¬†deep breath….. Off we go !
