First “Painting” Of 2016

Yesterday, after posting some of the “paintings” I did last year using Corel Painter I was inspired to get going with it again.

I can’t tell you how much I enjoy this way of producing images and have been doodling all day familiarising myself with the various brushes and papers.

Incredibly, it has been over 6 months since I last used Corel Painter so I am now clearing the decks and I’m going to see how far I can push the photographic/conventional art boundaries.

This is my first painting for over 6 months – not great … but at least its a start again

Will keep you posted with my progress đŸ™‚

  1. Joan, congratulations on your new work. You are obviously finding it very liberating to be free of the constraints of competition rules, despite having been very successful. It seems to me that in today’s world the attempt to retain anachronistic boundaries between different forms of creative expression are doomed to failure. It makes no more sense to try and define what is a ‘photograph’ than it made for for the French Academy to try an define what are the rules of an acceptable painting. Artists of whatever persuasion will always see such rules as the narrow protection of vested interests that they are.

My only hope is that you don’t get so wrapped up in your own work that you give up entirely on sharing your knowledge with others. I learnt so much from one session with you; I didn’t realise at the time the extent to which my eyes were being opened to new forms of expression.
